Purpose

The High Altitude Dip Net has a frame made of sturdy, open-ended PVC piping. It fills with water and sinks until it’s at the perfect level for catching fish. The bright white net is easy to see in the water and won’t come loose thanks to no-snag clips. A three-point attachment system using eyebolts and paracord securely connects the frame to a one-hundred-foot line. With this net, even a solo fisherman will be able to catch fish up to 50 lbs – no more stories about “the one that got away.” Plus, locking hinges make it easy to fold the net in half for transport and storage.

The Problem

When fishing from a high place like a dam, bluff, or pier, it can be tricky to land a fish that can easily break your line.

Story Behind the Invention

Inventor Randy Lee Hicks of Bolivar, MO has created a drop net with enhanced features. Now even a solo fisherman will be able to catch fish up to 50 lbs. from high up.

The idea was born while fishing off the Stockton Dam. Randy would catch fish, but he was unable to lift them up with just his fishing line. After breaking off several nice walleyes, he just knew there had to be a better way. In turn, he developed the High Altitude Dip Net!
